If you’re not familiar with the work of the IPA, I’d strongly recommend that you invest a little time to watch some of the excellent events they run with key note media industry speakers such as BBH’s John Hegarty, Engine’s Robin Wight or CP+B’s Chuck Porter.

I really enjoyed seeing and hearing John, Robin and Chuck share great lessons, fabled stories and wonderful quotes from their many years of pitching new business, but let me summarise 5 message take-outs that I’d urge you to consider before, during and after your next agency pitch day: –

  1. Is the agency team really interesting as a group of people?

  2. Do they have a point of view? What do they stand for?

  3. Are they enthusiastic, curious, good listeners and observant?

  4. Did they merely respond to a brief or actually answer your problem?

  5. And will they care about and look after your business beyond the pitch?

If you are interested in @thegoodpitch, try not to miss “An evening with David Magliano” (one of the architects behind the successful London 2012 bid) – it’s the next Pitching Legends event at the IPA on 27th November 2012.

Enjoy!
