After the retail excesses of Black Friday and Cyber Monday…it’s Manic Monday – with recent improvements in online ordering and delivery, it is the day now forecast by some analysts to eclipse Black Friday and Cyber Monday retail sales in the run-up to Christmas.
In conjunction with Toluna, global online community panel specialists, we polled over 2,200 UK consumers, for the first time, to measure the impact of Manic Monday.
In summary, it is clear that awareness of Manic Monday (46%), whilst well ahead of Giving Tuesday (25%), is closer to Small Business Saturday (55%) rather than the more established Black Friday (95%) and Cyber Monday (86%) shopping days.
Whilst we await official retail data to be published, the level of Manic Monday buyers (13% – skewed to 16-34s) is well below the level of Black Friday (34%), Small Business Saturday (25%) and Cyber Monday (21%) on the day purchasers, indicating that Manic Monday may just be another (pre-Christmas) shopping day after all.
